My Biographical data

I am born in Surabaya on the Island of (East)-Java, Indonesië, on August 20, 1941. I lived there until I was nine years old and received part of my primary education here.  In May 1950, we emigrated to the Netherlands. I still live here.  You could say that I have spent a very large part of my life in the Netherlands. In my CV, you can read how I developed my life in the Netherlands. I am an only child and had wonderful parents who gave me everything I needed to develop optimally.  The first ten years I lived in Almelo, for insiders the district "De Riet", in the Goudenregenstraat. For me, that meant playing football at the football club "Rietvogels" in the A-elftal and later in the first team. In 1960, I moved to Enschede because my father was working at the Twente Air Base, which was, of course, the best option. Here I finished the "MULO" and later went to the higher maritime school. After obtaining my diploma, I sailed for nine years. During my sailing period, I met Irene (my wife). For me, it was love at first sight; she had to get used to me at first. On October 22, 1965, we got married. The marriage brought us three children, Monique, Paul, and Dennis, who complete our family. After my sailing period, I started working for the Technical University of Twente (the current University of Twente) and of course visited the necessary reunions (foto1foto2foto3foto4, foto5foto6foto7). In 1973, we moved to Haaksbergen and lived there until 2002. On October 1, 2002, we moved to Bungalow Park Buitencentrum Hessenheem in Markelo. We hope to spend the rest of our lives in this place. In 2003, I founded an interest group together with a few residents of the park, of which I was elected chairman. In 2006, I resigned as chairman following an event within the association. I had received signals indicating that there was interest in setting up an association that would represent the interests of the permanent residents.
